Holy Crust Opens in Trinity Groves

Trinity Groves features some of Dallas’s most exciting restaurant concepts and is one of the city’s best spots for outdoor dining. That all continues with the opening of Holy Crust on Thursday, August 6. It’s the latest concept from Phil Romano, and it pays homage to the type of pizza his mother used to make him growing up—so, exactly how he believes pizza should be.

Instead of the typical formulation of crust, sauce, cheese and toppings all baked in the oven together, Holy Crust does things differently. The chefs sauté the toppings and then place them onto the crust, allowing the heat from the toppings to melt the cheese. This technique creates delicious pizza full of flavor and texture—you know Mama Romano wouldn’t steer you wrong!

The interior is bright white, like a tunnel of light as you might imagine Heaven to look.  Italian music plays in the background as you enjoy your food. The menu is 16 pizzas strong, and includes classics like Pepperoni alongside creative concoctions like Avocado & Egg and Veal Marsala. Try one of the hearty sandwiches, like the Italian Yardbird or the Dripping Pig with slow-roasted Porchetta, or opt for a fresh salad served in a pizza dough bowl.

No one’s going thirsty here, especially with the pour-your-own wine honor system, in which guests can choose between red, white or rosé and fill their own glasses with the selected jug on their table. Other options include draft beers, Italian cocktails like the Aperol Spritz and Negroni and shots of house-made limoncello.

I’ve been eagerly waiting to unveil this concept, which is very special to me, as it honors my own mother,” said Phil Romano, owner of Holy Crust. “My mom’s pizza is still my favorite way to eat the dish, and I hope to convert Dallas diners to this unique and delicious version we’ll be serving at the restaurant.”

Beginning August 6, the restaurant will be open Monday – Thursday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will also be available on all major delivery platforms. Diners who want a sneak peek can stop in for a soft-opening preview on Monday, August 3, Tuesday August 4, or Wednesday August 5. Limited reservations will be available at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and meals for indoor or al fresco dining will be 50% off, excluding alcohol. To reserve your spot, call 469-329-0707.
