This holiday season, everyone will be looking for fun, safe activities to enjoy with their loved ones. Sure, you’ve got the classics like a good holiday movie or some socially-distanced caroling. But this year, make a new tradition with Tinsel, a drive-through immersive holiday art experience.
This all-original artistic event is free to attend and will take place on Friday, December 18 and Saturday, December 19 from 6:30 – 10 p.m. It will highlight the creativity and culture of West Dallas, including the Tin District and Fabrication Yard communities, where some of the city’s best art comes to life. The two-night event celebrates the holidays in an artistic, authentic and engaging way. It goes beyond your typical evening of looking at holiday lights and instead brings together original art, technology and music into one cohesive experience you won’t soon forget.
Designed after the holiday classic, “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” 12 original 20-foot murals will anchor the experience. Additionally, the drive-through will feature original sculpture installations and engaging surprises.
The 12 featured artists include some of the most prolific painters and performers in DFW, like the genre-defying musician and artist Sam Lao, painter and muralist Mariell Guzman, award-winning artist and graffitist Tre Wilder, and contemporary artist Hatziel Flores.
The Tinsel experience begins at the corner of Sylvan Avenue and Muncie Avenue. Attendees will slowly wind through the Laser Forest, lay eyes on each mural and be transported into the enchanting environment. Tickets are not required; to participate, simply show up in a car, and enjoy. Then make it a full night by heading to any Trinity Groves restaurant, where you can enjoy 10% off food and drinks, plus BOGO holiday cake slices at Cake Bar. Just mention “Tinsel” for the discount.
