Suit Case Drive on at FOE Dallas

Stephanie Gray is a woman of action. She most recently spearheaded a chicken and dumpling cookoff at the bustling Fraternal Order of Eagles in Dallas benefitting suicide awareness and prevention among restaurant staffers, first responders and veterans. All this after recently suffering the loss of more than 20 friends to suicide.

Grey is a restaurant worker herself that has struggled along-side her fellow employees during the pandemic and saw a need that needed to be addressed. And she did.

More recently she had a friend that works with foster children mention that these children who are in need of a proper education, food, love and the very basics arrive to their constantly changing new families with their meager belongings in garbage bags.  As if the desperation wasn’t complete and saddened, Grey stepped up to ease some of this suffering by conducting a drive that will pair luggage, backpacks and duffle bags with these dispirited children.

Again she coupled with the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Dallas and Community Partnership of Dallas to collect and distribute these cases. When CraveDFW spoke to Gray she was renting a trailer to move the cases she has already collected to the FOE from her home. Response has been great so far and wishes to continue the effort through May 9th.

Until May 9th you may drop off checks, gently used or new duffel bags, suitcases and back packs to the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 8500 Arturo Dr, Dallas. Cash donations are being accepted by the Community Partnership of Dallas, which provides for the immediate and urgent needs of these children and supports the Child Protective Services caseworkers who help them.

You may also call the Fraternal Order of Eagles at (214) 327-9563. Currently there are no means to pick up individual cases. You may also contact Grey through the FOE to volunteer.
