8 Ways To Give Back This Holiday Season

It has been a terrific year; a blessing to be sure. How do we give back this holiday season? We have a few options below that might pique your interest. What better way than to assemble the clan into the family truckster and make way to assist those less fortunate than us this year as the ultimate family feast in heartwarming acts of kindness with generous sides of valuable life lessons for the children, wrappings of great joy uncovered through lending a hand, and a bit of a treat knowing you made a difference in a life even if for only a day. be cautious because volunteerism is contagious.

Toys for Tots: A special way to give back to children in this special service provided by our Marines. Volunteers are needed through the end of the year sorting toys and other fine duties. In order to ensure they have the proper number of volunteers at each  location they ask that you sign up using our sign up form found at the link provided. If you have large groups or special requests please contact our volunteer coordinator at dfwtoys4totsvc@yahoo.com.

Wilkinson Center: This center provides emergency food, disbursement of holiday meals, emergency rent and utility payments and more. Volunteers are vital to the success of Wilkinson Center. Through their time and effort volunteers act as partners to our organization and assist in our goal to provide quality programs and services to our clients. Individuals or small groups may sign up for volunteer assignments in our various programs including: food and emergency services adult education, and family enhancement programs. Please contact them for corporate and large group projects or any other volunteer questions.

Meals on Wheels: Ten million senior citizens face hunger each day, millions more deal with isolation. You can make a difference by volunteering to help prepare or deliver meals and visit with our elder citizens. Click on this opportunity to make a difference.

YMCA Turkey Trot: The YMCA is an important asset to our city that helps children and adults alike through heart healthy programs throughout the year. Volunteer to this important fundraiser found in each our our communities. And it is fun!

North Texas Food Bank: There are dozens of ways to volunteer your time, your family or group at the North Texas Food Bank. From sorting food, manning deliveries, mobile food bank the community pantry, special events, ambassadors and much more.

The Stewpot: Here you might find a traditional way to volunteer ladling food to homeless men and women. But the Stewpot is much more to these folks. At its main location on the corner of Park Avenue and Young Street in downtown Dallas, The Stewpot provides casework assistance and enrichment programs to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, as well as Children & Youth and Family Stabilization programs to at-risk children and their families. Since May 2008, The Stewpot has been the sole meal provider at The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center, serving 1,000 meals per day, 7 days per week.

Dallas Life Foundation: This group provides shelter, food, education and more to homeless men, women and families in the Dallas area. Volunteers are needed for traditional meal services on holidays, and every day and so much more. Here are a list of opportunities. We love this one.

Our Calling: This charity has needs for cash, people to make aware of the homeless plight, work in their cafe, sort clothes, data entry, sing songs, teach, mentor, paint over graffiti and much more.  This might be your calling.
