We have made plenty of lists in the past, and certainly soup has been a big draw for the cold, wintery months such as we are experiencing. One of our favorite soups comes from King’s Noodles (read about that place here). There are plenty of mainstays in Dallas such as Fearing’s tortilla soup, a recipe that will not, and should not ever leave that menu. Other perennials include the marshmallow soup at Rise No. 1 which is actually a rich tomato soup with pillows of roasted goat cheese.
Make a better soup and the world will beat down your door, especially when it is 25 degrees in Dallas.

Monkey King, with two locations has beef and chicken noodle soup to warm what chills you.
Matzo Ball Soup at Deli News is a true treat that you will wish to experience with a side of pastrami sandwich.
Jammed packed with seafood swimming in a lush broth, the bouillabaisse is the weekly special currently running at Dive Coastal. You can nab a bowl, both pair nicely with the classic Baja fish tacos. You will find this tiny seafood restaurant hidden in Snider Plaza across from SMU.
A huge favorite is the hot and sour soup at First Chinese BBQ in Richardson. This soup comes piping hot table side at a temperature that is molten hot. It is also mammoth in size and can make several meals for one, and plenty to share with friends. Also, the shrimp wonton soup is equally massive and quite good. The soup list here is extensive.
There are plenty of hot soups to be found at the Super H Mart in Carrollton. We enjoyed the Jjamppong, a Korean Chinese noodle soup with red, spicy seafood- or pork-based broth flavored with gochutgaru. Common ingredients include onions, garlic, zucchini, carrots, cabbages, squid, mussels, and pork. Smooth and power packed with flavor. Don’t miss the dumpling bar. Super H is a great chow around spot where you can dine with great variety in their kicked-up food court on the cheap.
Not really soup but well worth mentioning, the chili atHoly Grail in Plano has a whiff of ghost peppers to get you going in a very good way. Do not think this will be unbearable, the chef uses the flavor of the pepper which is quite good to fashion this beautiful bowl of red.
Lavendou for the rich foie terrine, Escargot à la Bourguignonne, rack of lamb and much more, but this bowl of Left Bank Gratinée à L’Oignon is insanely good. Power-packed with sauteed onions, a rich broth and a mountain of stringy gooey cheese you will find this the ultimate comfort food.
It had been so long since we checked into Terilli’s on Greenville Avenue. Too long. It will be a difficult choice of which hearty bowl you will want to order, the lobster bisque or the cream or jalapeno. Both are filling and only available as a bowl.
