Kegs Abound At Parkit-Market

If you need a keg of beer in Dallas for your home or party, who would you most likely turn to? Now lets say you want a really cool keg of beer, does that change anything? It shouldn’t. For over 50 years Parkit-Market has been the go-to keg station in Dallas.

Listing over 550 varieties on his web site Tony Todora is rightly excited when he discusses the current state of beer in Dallas, Texas.

“We do have a special now that includes everything you need for $84.95 if you want Coors, PBR, Bud Select and a few other brands, but our customers are becoming more sophisticated and we are seeing better beers being ordered,” said owner Todora. Getting Your Indian Fix At Chaat Cafe

Chaat Café  is billed as a fresh and casual Indian fast food restaurant, but there is absolutely no resemblance to what you might consider fast food. The food is served in the same relative time as any other restaurant, and is hand-made to order with precision and care. The concept is a national chain, but each location has a local flair. Since Irving has a tremendous Indian population, it is very popular with the locals.

The menu at Chaat is fairly extensive with a full line of chaat, or Indian nibbles such as Pani Puri (crisp shells stuffed with potatoes and garbanzo beans) or a variety of Pakora and Samosas.

2013 Beer in Review

This past was an interesting one for the craft brew scene in Dallas-Ft. Worth and surrounding areas. A few breweries opened and graced us with an ever widening expanse of offerings, every brewery celebrated a birthday and continued to grace us with the beers we love, a few breweries took home some hardware from competitions and beer festivals seem to have increased in popularity. This alone would be impressive for an area but add the ongoing beer dinners, North Texas Beer Week and the incoming craft beers and a beer lover can safely enjoy a plethora of styles that commercial breweries lack from their tasteless and soulless swill. Texas Big Beer- Czar of Texas Imperial Stout

Texas Big Beer is a relatively new brewery that most have not heard of in the DFW metroplex. It might be due to the limited amount of brews, seven on their website with one of those in planning and two awaiting label approval, or it may be due to the location being northwest of Houston in Buna, Texas. Their website reads like a home brewer that decided to start up a brewery, the wish of almost every home brewer out there. Nothing excites a home brewer more than the thought of starting a brewery and making beer that everyone loves to drink. Lark on the Park Hosting Brooklyn Beer

Lark on the Park has quickly become one of our restaurant treasures. The food is always spot on, the cocktails are fantastic, and best of all it is one of the easiest restaurants to get in and out of despite the nearby construction. Always park in the garage just to the right of the front door for speedy valet in and out.

All that aside, Lark on the Park will host world-renowned Brooklyn Brewery brewmaster Garrett Oliver for a specially curated beer experience Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at its location at 2015 Woodall Rodgers Freeway across from Klyde Warren Park. Beer Me: Deep Ellum Brewing Company

It’s not often that a brewery opens with little fanfare. This might be because of our love of beer or may be because of the flavors blending together from the genius mind of the brewer. When you hear about this new brewery, your heart flutters slightly, your pupils may dilate and your mouth may water in the anticipation of finding where this beer. If you’re lucky, the beer happens to surface at your local watering hole or maybe the restaurant you got dragged to friends or a significant other. When the brewery bottles or cans its beer, you search everywhere for its location.

The only downside to all this is that the full beer experience will be limited. What if you were able to sip the golden nectar from its birthplace? Sniff the grains that offered their sugars, touch the tanks that coaxed those sugars out and met the people responsible for imparting this little taste nirvana upon you? It might be time for a local brewery tour if this sounds exciting.   Continue reading →

Meet Jeremy Hunt, Brewmaster At Deep Ellum Brewing Company

A few short months ago Deep Ellum Brewing Company hired a new brewmaster, Jeremy Hunt, who has been working  at Bluegrass Brewing Company in Louisville, Kentucky for the past two years. Hunt brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm which should translate into some very innovative beers being pumped out of the 8,000 square foot facility. All this comes off of a recent expansion and a thirst to better penetrate the market.

Yesterday the brewery penned a deal that will bring their craft beer to College Station, a major boon for the young company.
