We pretty much associate Elvis with that quirky sandwich made with peanut butter, bananas. The original sandwich that hooked the crooner did not have slices of bacon as we so often think, but instead just mashed bananas and white bread slathered with peanut butter. Later Elvis was introduced to a toasted version with the added bacon, because the sandwich just wasn’t  nearly the heart attack inducer it could be. An even later version had the sandwich fried in a skillet of butter.

Then we have Fool’s Gold. This is a lesser known version of the sandwich that actually had Elvis flying across country on a whim to devour.  Continue reading

Knife Has a Bacon Sampling You Won’t Want to Miss

The meat Mecca of Dallas is without a doubt, Knife located in the Highland Dallas located just off Central Expressway at Mockingbird and in Willowbend. This is the love-child of chef John Tesar who has elevated the steak experience, and the results are precious.

The menu is dotted with a whole host of steaks ranging in price from the very affordable, to the more exotic and a bit pricey. However, the latter comes in giant slabs and sliced for easy sharing, so the cost per person is actually as easy to swallow as the dry aged beef.   Continue reading

Bacon and Beer Classic at The Foundry

The weather was perfect on Saturday for the Bacon and Beer Classic at the Foundry.

Now in it’s fourth year, the event takes place at several cites all over the United States and London, and features 36+ mostly local craft beers, a Moscow mule booth, unlimited bacon strips, and gourmet bacon infused dishes. Guests enjoyed a range of activities such as live music, a bacon eating contest, giant jenga, cornhole, and bacon bobbin.   Continue reading

Bacon By The Bucket At Local Oak

The obsession with bacon only gains more kinetic energy, never stopping to wait for the world to catch up. And that is probably OK by us. Bacon, with all of its sweet, smokey, crispy goodness lends a bit of savory crunch to just about any meal from what could otherwise be an extremely mundane sandwich or burger, to a sprite salad topping that makes an omnivore smile with anticipation.
