Olivella’s Pizza & Wine, the critically acclaimed Roman and Neapolitan-style pizza kitchen, has unveiled its new “Olivella’s Italian Deli” storefront at its existing Deep Ellum location, located at 2816 Elm Street in Dallas. After years of customer demand, research, recipe development, and taste-testing, Olivella’s Italian Deli features a menu comprised of 19 premium panini and sub sandwiches native to old-world Italian paninotecas and American delicatessens.

As you may know, Cheapsteaks is the first and only bar, steakhouse, and music venue in Deep Ellum. Founders Jeff Biehler, John Jay Myers, and Ed Laster wanted to create a concept of affordable steaks that paired with live music to fit the local scene. Since the Fall of 2021, Cheapsteaks has offered an inviting and informal dining experience and in fact, every steak is served with a side of fries to highlight these values.

Deep Ellum has this rich history of taverns and music, not too unlike today. The transitions have been deep cut with controversy both sweet and unforgiving.
Deep Ellum was well known as the place to be for blues musicians from as far away as Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Made famous by legendary residents like Blind Lemon Jefferson, Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter, and blues pianist Alex Moore, Deep Ellum also frequently hosted performances by such iconic artists as T-Bone Walker, just starting his career, and Bessie Smith.
Today we might consider it more alternative in music and diverse in cuisine

Adair’s Saloon opened in 1963 on Cedar Springs and operated by S.L. and Ann Adair. They were known for their cold beer and a half pound cheeseburger that brought in plenty of local college students who were encouraged to let their artistic side out by marking up the walls with graffiti. We quickly fell in love with the art, the other businesses and most of all the people who make it such a special place. I had goosebumps when I first stepped into the building and knew in my gut that was the one.”
