2014 Vintage Premier Fête du Bordeaux Dinner October 25th at The Mansion on Turtle Creek

Each year Sigel’s hosts a special dinner that showcases the latest vintage to be released from six of Bordeaux’s leading estates. October’s event will be truly memorable as we highlight the 2014 Vintage. Guests will be enjoying the wines of Léoville-Barton, Langoa-Barton, Lynch-Bages, Ormes de Pez, la Consiellante, Figeac and Petite Figeac, along with the an  incredible group of library vintages, all flown directly from the chateau cellars.  

 As in the past, Sigel’swill be welcoming three of their longtime winemaking friends, Jean-Charles Cazes of Lynch-Bages & Ormes de Pez, Lilian Barton-Sartorius of Léoville-Barton and Langoa-Barton and Frederic Faye of Figeac in St Emilion. 2014 Rose Tasting at Sigels April 9th

You will be able to taste six of these dry, crisp summer sippers from the 2014 vintages as well as a few age-worthy Corsican Rose’ from the 2013 vintage. Scotch Drinkers — Don’t Miss This Event

We are about to have one of the best Scotch tasting events of the year. Next Wednesday, February 25th March 11th between 6pm and 8pm Sigel’s is holding a tasting of at least 65 different scotches (blended and single malt) at their Greenville Avenue store. The number will likely be over 65 as wine and spirit director, Jasper Russo, is still working on attendees as you read this.

The way it will work is as follows. You walk in and get a “Passport” which entitles you to sample from the tasting booths set up around the store. Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commision (TABC) rules limit each person to 20 pours. So you can’t taste all 65 and I would pick out what you want to taste, then winnow it back to 20 and work your way around those. Representatives from the distillers will be serving the whiskies so it is a chance to ask questions as well.   Continue reading →

Major Chardonnay Tasting Thursday, May 29

Sigel’s reports that they are doing their annual Benchmark Chardonnay Tasting on Thursday, May 29th from 5-7pm at their Greenville Avenue store. They say that twenty wines will be tasted but, if past experience is a guide, other winemakers will jump in so there will be more. Based on our past experience, this event is Crave recommended

A Don’t Miss Pinot Noir Mega Tasting

It is on Monday March 10th at The Park Cities Club and it is organized by Sigel’s. Over 50 Pinot Noirs from all over the planet will be available for tasting along with the heavy hors d’oeuvres (Herb Crusted Beef Tenderloin, Smoked Chicken Quesadillas, New England Style Crab Puffs and Artisan Cheeses & Fresh Fruit). Sigel’s Benchmark Cabernet Tasting Blows Your Mind With Quality

It was packed. And no surprise about that. Sigel’s 4th Annual Benchmark Cabernet Tasting at the Park Cities Club was full of some of the best Cabernet Sauvignons from the U.S. (and a few from Australia and South Africa as well). Among the 50+ wines there were names with established reputations like Dominus, Beaulieu, Beringer, Groth, Miner, Robert Mondavi, Nickel and Nickel and Newton) and also startups and boutique wineries producing just a few hundred cases but with absolutely no quality concessions (Arietta, Bello Family, Carte Blanche, Francesca, Herold, Kobalt, Larkin, Priest, Rudius and Tor).    Continue reading →
