Teiichi Sakurai, owner of the illustrious Tei An in One Arts Plaza, has planned to open his tiny ramen shop in the new Sylvan|Thirty project in West Dallas for some time now. The 750 square foot restaurant will seat 13 guests, and will be designed by Hatsumi Kuzuu, the same talent behind such spots as FT33 in Dallas.
The restaurant, which will be called Ten, was on the fast track to already be open for business but was delayed due to a fire which gutted the new building back in March of this year. We now catch word that the delay will have diners waiting for Sakurai’s promised $10 bowl of ramen until January of 2015. Continue reading

As Sylvan | Thirty gets closer to opening I get more excited. There is promise of so many more new restaurants and shops without the tomfoolery of the chains that smite the dining landscape in Dallas. The news is trickling and today we learned about Bottega Italia which is set to open in December, just in time for that holiday dinner you wanted to invite me to.
Local chef Daniele Puleo has signed a lease to open Bottega Italia, a cafe, market and coffee and wine bar, at Sylvan | Thirty, the much-anticipated mixed-use development at the crossroads of West Dallas and North Oak Cliff. Construction on the 4,400-square foot market, which will also feature a 2,200-square foot patio, will begin in the coming weeks, with an anticipated opening date of December 2014. Continue reading
