Last night I attended the monthly Bailey’s Prime Plus wine dinner which featured Soter Vineyards and cheffed by Michael Ehlert from another Bailey’s enterprise, Chesterfield. You recall Ehlert, the bright CIA grad who has worked at Brasserie and DBGB in New York. Ehlert has been planning this dinner for about a month and really shined last evening.
It was also last night I learned that the Bailey’s exec chef Grant Morgan had taken leave from the restaurant after spending time in France creating a vacancy for that position. There was also another shake up in the General Manager department. Jennifer Jaco, the restaurant’s extremely capable sommelier, had taken over some of the GM duties, but now that position has been filled by Bob’s Steak and Chophouse manager Ken Kuczwaj.
Bailey’s is a beautiful series of restaurants with their flagship located in the Shops at Park Lane across from North Park. The restaurant is top notch, but seems to have an identity crisis with a revolving door of chefs. With Kuczwaj on board that is most likely to change. He stated there is an offer on the table for a new chef, and should be announcing that name soon.
In the mean time the restaurant is gunning full steam with the help of Ehlert in the kitchen.
