Author, Journalist, Film Producer, former Staff Rep Staffer adds Artist to her repertoire with Dallas Design District Gallery Opening

An award-winning author, travel writer, crime/politico journalist, film producer, and former State Rep staffer recently added artist to her list of accomplishments.

Dallas (Bishop Art) resident Rita Cook says the idea to paint has been brewing in her soul for many years.

“I spent about nine years living with an artist in LA,” Cook says adding that during that time she was also surrounded by many other artists and creatives.

“78 on Deck” WAAS Gallery

One of the journeys of being an artist is making sure that people are able to see your artwork.  Some show in museums, other show in fairs, but the most common place for an artist who has not made it to a museum is showing in a gallery.  Taylor Ellis is WAAS Gallery’s newest resident artist.  On Saturday April 13th, he will open a show called “78 on deck” along the side with collaborative works by Phillip McVean.

In this exhibition Ellis has created a series of tarot cards, which are illustrated through digital design.  Being inspired by a tarot reading which his friend had given to him and the hunger for creating an art show, he developed a group of images which would lead to him not only telling his future, but the future of others.
