Retro Movie Review: The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962)

The street is quiet in the uneasy way only a frontier town can be. Lamps glow faintly through the windows of Shinbone’s storefronts, and the townspeople line the boardwalk in tense silence. In the center of the dirt street stands a thin young lawyer clutching a revolver he barely knows how to use. Across from him, lounging with casual cruelty, is a man who lives for moments like this. Liberty Valance flicks his whip against his boot and smiles. The lawyer’s hands tremble. Someone whispers a prayer. Then the gunfire cracks through the night, echoing down the empty street as a legend is born.

John Wayne: An American Experience

At the same time, legendary Western-wear maker Stetson will be on-site with a Stetson X John Wayne hat personalization pop-up with Stetson Head Designer Claudia Medina. The collection features hats that are reminiscent of those worn by John Wayne in countless movies.

The day kicks off with a tasting of Gold Handle Coffee, a series of carefully curated blends named after a traditional gift presented by legendary actor John Wayne. During the making of his films, John Wayne gave each of his cast and crew members a personalized Gold Handle mug as a token of appreciation. The Duke’s generous and unique tradition was celebrated through these collectible mugs and his love of sharing coffee with friends. Gold Handle Coffee was born of that tradition.  The tasting will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
