Khanh Nguyen started Zalat Pizza in Dallas back in 2015, and eleven years later the company is opening its 31st Texas location, this time in McKinney’s Heritage Village at 1720 N. Central Expressway, Suite 210, just south of Highway 380 on U.S. 75. For a brand that’s grown this far this fast, Zalat has held onto the same personality it launched with, which says something about how deliberately Nguyen has grown it.

Zalat Pizza, the late-night, cult-favorite, Texas-based pizza concept where all frontline employees receive stock options, announced the opening of their 2nd Austin location at The Shops of Arbor Walk.
Crave was there at the start with Dalat when Khanh Nguyen was serving hot Pho bowls and Dragon Shots til 2am. We were there when we saw the first Zalat Pizza street sign go up next door on Fitzhugh with “Open til 4am” on it. We remember telling Khanh that it was a bold move to put 4am on the permanent street sign. His response was that he didn’t want to give himself the option to not stick to it. Dallas has followed Zalat over the past 8 years as their late-night, “luxury pizzas for the masses” concept has exploded from its original Fitzhugh location to now 29 locations across Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and Austin.
Zalat Pizza, the Texas-based, award-winning, cult-favorite pizza concept announced the first two locations of a multi-unit development relationship with America’s largest grocery retailer, The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR). Under the agreement, Zalat Pizza will place its popular pickup and on-demand delivery pizza restaurants within Kroger supermarkets. The initial pilot locations will be located in Houston, Texas. The Zalat Pizza to be located at Kroger’s Cypress Towne Lake Marketplace. The second restaurant, to be located at Kroger’s Conroe Marketplace supermarket, is scheduled to open in December 2022. The parties plan to announce the slate of 2023 openings in the next few months.
Zalat Pizza, the cult-favorite pizza concept, will make its return to Southside in a new location on the street level retail shopping area of Southside Flats at 1210 Botham Jean Blvd, Suite 1118, Dallas, TX 75215 on Tuesday, July 5.
The Zalat brand is known for pushing the envelope on traditional pizza recipes as well as continuing to be bold and inventive. All pizzas are handmade using scratch ingredients, including their dough for the perfect NYC-style crust and house made sauce with oven-roasted Roma tomatoes and fresh basil.
Zalat Pizza, the cult-classic pizza concept developed by Khanh Nguyen, announces plans to open three more locations in the DFW area between July and September with openings in South Arlington, Irving and another Dallas location.
South Arlington will open at 5415 S. Cooper St, Suite 117, Arlington, TX 76017 on Monday, July 19, Irving will open at 4835 N. O’Connor Rd, Suite 136, Irving, TX 75062 in late August, and the newest Dallas location will open at 11613 North Central Expressway, Suite 111, Dallas, TX 75243 in late September. The three new locations will strictly serve takeout through Zalat’s website or delivery via third party delivery apps.
Zalat is rapidly expanding its footprint within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, and these locations will put Zalat’s store count at 15.
Also in early August, the pizza brand plans to open a smaller footprint location at The Exchange Hall located in the AT&T Discovery District in Downtown Dallas offering a new take on their traditional concept. Going by the name Zalat Slices, the location will exclusively serve pizza by the slice, a first for any of Zalat’s stores.
Khanh Nguyen’s cult classic pizza concept, Zalat, is growing to its 7th unit and will open at 4007 Lemmon Ave., Suite B, Dallas TX 75219 on Monday, April 13th. This location will function as a cloud kitchen for the zealous pizza brand, strictly serving take-out and delivery via third party delivery apps.
“The plan for the new Lemmon Ave. location was always to serve as a cloud kitchen, and the model couldn’t be more appropriate given the current climate,” says Nguyen, CEO and Founder of Zalat Pizza. “We’ve always had high delivery volumes to begin with, so we are adapting during this time to implement health standards and safety precautions for both staff and 3rd party drivers alike.” Continue reading →
Plenty can be written about Khanh Nguyen at DaLat. He is definitely the king of the late night menu, serving pho and plenty of other interesting Vietnamese items on into the night. Arrive at 1:59 and you will be welcome to order, whereas any other establishment would be sweeping and shaking you off to find bad waffles for your 2am fix. Many of the late night patrons are waiters, bartenders and chefs. Others arrive directly from the bars that surround the neighborhood. All are welcomed with a steaming bowl of pho, or one of the many other items that will definitely sooth your soul.
And damn those delicious little DaLat shooters which are Vietnamese meatballs seared and sunk into a spicy broth of sake, coconut and cream. Toss your head back for a moment of bliss. Continue reading →
