Misti Norris at Far Out

Earlier this month the Michelin Guide added five Dallas restaurants to its 2026 Texas selections. Far Out was not one of them. That is worth a second look, because few kitchens in this city have had a better year.

Far Out sits in a converted Quonset hut at 1906 S. Haskell Ave., just north of Fair Park, with a cactus-lined patio out front and a bar that stays busy well after dinner. Owners Caroline and James Lee brought in Misti Norris as culinary director in May 2025, a few months after she closed Petra and the Beast. She has been cooking on Haskell Avenue ever since, and the rest of the country has noticed.

Stillwell’s Raises Its Own Cattle, and It Shows on the Plate

Hallie Crawford was 19 when she took her first teaching job in Presidio, just as Pancho Villa’s raids were reaching into the Big Bend. Her father figured she was off on a wild goose chase. Her reply, “Then I’ll gather my geese,” became the title of the memoir she published in her nineties. According to the Handbook of Texas, she showed up for that first job with her teaching certificate in hand and her father’s gun strapped to her side.

The DFW Restaurant Bucket List: 16 Places to Eat Before the Year Is Out

Every city has its short list. These are the places locals take visiting relatives to, the reservations people set alarms for, and the lines that are still worth the wait years after the buzz should have faded.

This one covers all of Dallas-Fort Worth and every budget. There’s an omakase counter with only a handful of seats, a fried chicken house where the whole menu fits in one breath, a taqueria where the tacos are still a bargain, and a dining room at the Ritz-Carlton that has been part of the Dallas story for nearly two decades. Several of these places were honored again in the 2026 Michelin Guide Texas earlier this month. A few have never needed anybody’s guide.

Quarter Acre Brings a Kiwi’s Dream to Lower Greenville

Ask Toby Archibald to sum up Dallas dining in three words and he won’t make you wait. “Too much steak”. Then he went back to running one of the most personal restaurants in the city.

That restaurant is Quarter Acre, at 2023 Greenville Ave. on the lowest stretch of Lower Greenville, in the old Rapscallion space. Archibald opened it at the end of December 2022. It has since landed at No. 3 on Texas Monthly’s statewide list of best new restaurants and a spot in the Michelin Guide.

Plano’s Jashan Is the First Indian Restaurant in DFW to Make the Michelin Guide

Collin County has become one of the best places in Texas to eat Indian food. For three years, the Michelin Guide did not seem to notice any of it. This month that changed. Jashan, an upscale Indian restaurant in Plano, landed on Michelin’s 2026 Recommended list less than a year after it opened, and it is the first Indian restaurant in Dallas-Fort Worth ever recognized by the guide. It was also the only Plano restaurant on this year’s list.

Jashan means celebration, and the restaurant feels like one. It opened on November 13, 2025, at 7401 Lone Star Drive in Legacy North, in the big space that used to be Farm + Feed. It is the first restaurant for owner Prasanna Singaraju, who spent his career in tech before deciding food was his calling. He even enrolled in cooking school to prepare for it.

What Actually Happened in the 2026 Michelin Guide for Dallas and Fort Worth

Fort Worth finally has its Michelin star, and it went to a barbecue joint on Dick Price Road. Anyone who has stood in that line on a Saturday morning will tell you it was only a matter of time.

The 2026 Michelin Guide Texas arrived this morning with no ceremony and no red carpet, just a list posted online. North Texas came away with a modest but meaningful update. Here is what actually happened, straight from Michelin’s own selections, and what we make of it.

Congratulations to Goldee’s on Their Michelin Star

On the southeast edge of Fort Worth, near Kennedale, on a stretch of Dick Price Road that most Dallasites could not find without a map, sits a small barbecue joint with a red wall, a few smokers and a line that starts forming well before the doors open. As of this week, it is also the first restaurant in Fort Worth history to earn a Michelin star.

Goldee’s Bar-B-Q had already been a two-time Bib Gourmand. On October 8 the inspectors bumped it up to one star, writing that it is absolutely worth the hours-long wait in the Texas sun.

What to Watch When Michelin Reveals Its 2026 Texas List Thursday

Come Thursday morning, a lot of chefs in Dallas and Fort Worth will be hitting refresh on their email.

The Michelin Guide will release its third Texas selection on Thursday, October 8. This time there’s no ceremony. The last two years, Michelin threw a big night in Houston and chefs found out in front of a room full of their peers. This year the stars, Bib Gourmands and Recommended picks show up in a press release.
