Dallas! Celebrate The Beignet With Us

What is made up of butter, flour, water and eggs, piped into several shapes for a variety of uses, and made most famous by our friends at Cafe du Monde in New Orleans? It is, of course, this special dough which brings us delicious pastries, both sweet and savory, such as eclairs, cream puffs,  profiteroles, croquembouches,  French crullers,  and Indonesian kue sus, dumplings. In the case of Cafe du Monde, choux is also responsible for the beignet, that wonderful little bit of fried dough that we typically dump a crazy amount of confectioner’s sugar onto and devour without remorse alongside a steaming cup of coffee.

Brunch Magic at Toulouse

So I’m writing this stuff and some of you are reading. I know because when I am out waiting on a cocktail you will ask me if I am going to order a Manhattan. Or on a Saturday you will ask me where I am heading to brunch  the next morning. Busted. I am an avid brunch-a-holic.

It’s not so much the food. Yes, I have a not-so-secret love affair with the egg, securing breakfast or brunch as a top favorite meal. But the conversations that take place at brunch are so much more livelier than at dinner. Perhaps inhibitions drop after a night of revelry. Taverna Pizzeria and Rissoteria Re-Opens On Knox In Dallas

We discussed Taverna Pizeria and Rissoteria moving a mere few city streets away to Knox some time ago, but the actual transition from one restaurant to the other  took a record breaking 36 hours. The new digs for the Lombardi Family Concepts is now officially open on Knox, nestled gently to its sister restaurant, Toulouse.

“Taverna has become a Dallas favorite, and the new Knox Street location right off the Katy Trail will allow even more people to enjoy Taverna,” said Alberto Lombardi. “I look forward to seeing all the familiar and new faces at Taverna’s new home.”   Continue reading

Cibus To Shutter and Taverna To Relocate

In a happy press release that discusses how wonderful life is to be a Lombardi, and honestly I am sure it doesn’t suck, Alberto Lombardi announced that he will be closing Cibus in NorthPark.
