Zen Bakery’s Special Filipino Night

by Steven Doyle

The really sweet ladies at Zen Baking Company, the new Deep Ellum hot spot for all things cake balls, sent me a note last night inviting all our friends to join them for a special dinner that they will be doing occasionally at their restaurant.

On alternating quarters the sister team will offer a brunch and then what they termed as Mi Familia, a family-style dinner highlighting dishes from their parents different regions in the Philippines.

“We want to reconnect with our roots, and in doing so we are able to find more about our parents. The cuisine is beautiful and I think people will enjoy what we have to offer”, Hounsel said in a recent interview.

The first dinner will be a Filipino Tapas night June 11th and they will be serving a lot of food including 3 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 3 desserts. The space is small so there will be limited seating so you will need to call soon for a reservation to secure a spot. Filipino food is more than difficult to find in North Texas, and this family-style dinner will be as authentic as the ladies preparing the dishes.

Tell them craveDFW sent you.
