40 Under 40 Benefit For Dallas Furniture Bank

by Steven Doyle

Last evening I stopped in the 40 Under 40 Awards Presentation and Battle of the Bakers that benefited the Dallas Furniture Bank.  There were several recipients of the award that pop up on craveDFW from time to time like Iris McCallister, CEO of Oh* Brownie, Sander Wolf from DallasChocolate.org, Catharine Flagg who is a  partner at Jackson & Flagg Public Relations, and local food and style writer Jennifer Buxton.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the crowd was treated to an assortment of pastries from several area bakers like Chonnie Richy from Zen Baking Company in Deep Ellum, and Jill Bates from Fearing’s. Top flight for the evening was definitely the chocolate bacon cupcake provided by Zen.

The mission of the Dallas Furniture Bank is to provide furniture that meets basic living needs to families and individuals who are transitioning out of homelessness or to others who are in need. They work to achieve this mission by collaborating with Dallas social service agencies whose clients desperately need furniture.
