The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) Board of Directors has approved the State Fair of Texas specialty license plate, a milestone for Fair enthusiasts and supporters of higher education. Starting in 2025, Texans can purchase the vibrant plates, with proceeds benefiting the Big Tex Scholarship Program, which provides millions in scholarships each year to Texas youth.
The Big Tex Scholarship Program supports high school seniors statewide, including participants in competitive youth livestock events, graduates from six Dallas ISD schools near Fair Park, and seasonal employees or their dependents. Since 1992, the program has awarded over $18.8 million to more than 3,500 students.
“The State Fair of Texas is a beloved tradition, and this new plate gives Texans a chance to show their pride while supporting students,” said Karissa Condoianis, SVP of Public Relations.
The specialty plate, featuring Big Tex® and his signature “Howdy, Folks!”, will be available for purchase in early 2025.
