There are plenty of fun activities for just about everyone this weekend and we encourage you to take advantage of the fun min the sun. We have a short list of a few nifty events.
Dallas City Arts Festival This annual festival is free and located at the State Fairgrounds. There are plenty of activities for the whole family including a children’s activity area, chef and cocktail demos, live music and much more. Stroll through the art vendors tents and pick up something new and peruse the many food booths for something to chew. Free movie tonight on the lawn near the Fair’s entrance.
Homegrown Fest 2012 is an annual event that continues to feature the best bands & artists from the big state of Texas. It all takes place at Main Street Garden Park in downtown Dallas on Saturday, May 26th 2012. This event is pet friendly and all kids under 10 get in free. No coolers, but in-and-out is allowed so you can roll around downtown for a few brews and bites and come back for your favorite band. Continue reading
A notoriously anti-biking metroplex, the current City of Dallas Bike Plan has been completely stalled as a result of the lack of the estimated 16 million dollars it will take to re-strip 840 lane miles for bikes. So instead of relying on City Hall to begin implementing much needed bike infrastructure changes the biking community is resting its power on grass-roots level action. This weekend Dallas has three amazing biking events going on all of which are based within the city with the hopes of raising bike awareness, community, and funding. Continue reading
Tacopalooza? Sure, why not. This event is brought to Dallas by the good folks that pulled off Mods versus Rockers in Dallas last weekend, David Marett, and craveDFW’s own TacoBot glam girl Daniel Leahy. The event will feature tacos from across the Dallas taco plains, replete with taco eating contests, bands, PBR and much talk about tacos.
The event takes place Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Bryan Street Tavern, the place for good tacos, PBR and bands, and begins at 1pm. The event culminates later in the evening with the taco judgment and ends at 7pm.
You won’t want to miss this one.
Dining Out in Dallas was first held in 1995 and has grown to become the signature fundraising event for the Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation. Their trademarked event, Dining Out in Dallas has raised more than $1,100,000 for patient programs and research projects. The Founding Chef, David Holben, enlisted his friends in the chef community to share their culinary talents and benefit the Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation. Continue reading
Frisco is getting into the food truck game and has designed their first ever family oriented event called the Downtown Frisco StrEATS Gourmet Food Truck & Music Festival that will bring more than 10 food trucks to Frisco’s Fourth Street. The April 28th event is expected to host approximately 1,500 people, and will also feature music from The School of Rock and Dave Thomas. The event is scheduled to run from 3 to 7pm on that Saturday. Chad and Nellie Montgomery like beer so much they want to share a few of their favorites with you. 300 of them to be exact. The Big Texas Beer Fest is the first 100% craft beer inspired festival in North Texas. The festival will feature 80-100 breweries with over 300 beers from all over the world. The festival will focus heavily on the emerging Texas craft beer scene. A number of Texas breweries have already promised exclusive kegs and firkins for this event, with many more planned to come.
