The Best Restaurant You’ve Never Heard of is on Greenville

Gul Rahman and Sadia Pathan used to run a pizza place in Mesquite. Good, steady work. Then they walked away from it to open an Afghan restaurant on Lower Greenville, in a space barely big enough to seat a dozen people, in a neighborhood that eats restaurants alive. Their friends probably had opinions about this.

Those friends were wrong.

Nora Middle Eastern Returns with New Space, New Twist

A Dallas favorite is making a comeback: Nora Restaurant and Bar, the acclaimed Middle Eastern spot from chef-owner Matt Pikar, will reopen this fall at Sylvan Thirty, taking over the former Whisk Crepes space at 1888 Sylvan Rd.

Nora previously operated for six years in Bishop Arts before closing in May when its lease expired. That location—once home to an incarnation of Afghan Grill Pikar opened in 2007—will soon house Elia, a Greek restaurant from the team behind Selda Mediterranean.

Nora For A Delicious New Year’s Eve Bargain

Still looking for NYE plans?? Celebrate at Nora Restaurant and Bar.  There will be three seatings, the first at 5:30, then 7:30pm for a 3 course meal for $49 pp. Or come late for the 9:30pm 4 course dinner with a complimentary glass of champagne for $75 per person.

Nora is this fantastic family run restaurant on Greenville Avenue serving up falvorful Afhgan cuisine, that is delicately spiced and always nice. The heated rooftop patio has a beautiful view and fireplaces, a nice romantic escape from the bustle on the streets below.

Nora Is A Sweet Afghan Surprise

It’s been about a single month since Nora opened its doors and we had a first look at the opening festivities which included dancing, plenty of music and great food. One month later the music is a bit muted but the food is rolling strong in this beefed up outpost for the dearly loved North Dallas Afghan Grill.

Located on lowest Greenville Avenue in what is fast becoming a freshly revitalized area of Dallas, Nora is a little gem that is all nice and shiny. The same chef is working the grill as the North Dallas haunt, and they are using the same techniques. Giant flames from the largish gas grill kiss the lamb kabobs just as the grill does at Afghan. The flavors are very similar because the recipes are the same.      Continue reading
