Eat Me: Reaper Adobo Duck Wings at BrainDead Brewing

BrainDead Brewing in Deep Ellum is definitely one of the great Meccas of manhood when it comes to dining. The menu is over-the-top podgy with manly dishes such as an award winning chili (I was there to hand them their award at a cook off), their burger stuffed with a bacon and ground brisket patty, clarified butter, onion jam, beer pickles and crispy shallots (not to mention more cheese and more bacon), and a Dr Pepper glazed Cuban sandwich just to name a few hearty items. Damn good stuff, but be prepared to work overtime at the gym, especially when loading up on the incredible in-house brewed beer.

If this wasn’t enough, the cheffy types in the back of the house are offering a duck wing slathered with Scorpion Reaper Adobo. Scorpion Reaper Adobo!    Continue reading

Cody Sharp Guest Chefs at Braindead

Braindead will be putting on the second in a series of Chef Collaboration Dinners September 21st at 7pm. Tickets are $80 and must be secured by following this link  to guarantee your seat. This round the Collaboration Chef will be Cody Sharp, formally of Standard Pour and more recently as Matt McAllister’s right-hand man at Filament which will soon open in Deep Ellum restaurant directly across from Braindead on Main Street. Braindead Brewing Hosting Chef’s Beer Dinner Monday, Aug 17th

Braindead Brewing is  hosting a special collaboration dinner Monday, August 17th featuring Braindead’s chef David Pena and Lucia exec sous Justin Holt. The chefs plan on six courses, each uniquely paired with superior brews all from a 200 mile radius of Dallas.

Large format offerings from Jester King Brewery and Prairie Artisanal Ales coupled with the premiere of two Braindead Brewing’s own Brettanomyces Fermentation will make this a special evening to remember.

Braindead is a community bar and brewery, that focuses on housemade beer and completely from scratch cooking in a relaxed Deep Ellum vibe. In craft brewing culture, Collaborations between breweries is commonplace.  Continue reading

Restaurant Openings This Week

There are a few key restaurant openings this week that you should take note about. There are several.

Luscher’s Red Hots is located in Deep Ellum at 2653 Commerce, and will, of course, feature those amazing dogs hand crafted by Brian Luscher, owner of The Grape on Greenville. This long awaited hot spot also serves up shaved Wagyu beef Italian sandwiches (the latest rage in Dallas), Greek gyros, roasted pork and gairdinera sandwiches served with natural gravy, and the beloved “Uncle Jimmy” which is a creation of Luscher’s made with roasted pork and sweet and hot Italian sausage.    Continue reading
