Central Market Will Be Hatch Pepper Ground Zero This Season

It’s time to gear up once again for one of our favorite times of the year, Hatch Chile Season. No one does Hatch Chile’s better in Dallas than Central Market with all the grandeur deserving the flavorful pepper.

Those that participated last season know it was a particularly spicy year with even the mild versions having an extra bit of kick. It will be interesting to see how the weather this year affects the peppers on the Scoville front. Continue reading

Central Market Chocolate Crawl in Full Swing

Central Market is hosting it’s annual chocolate festival from February 4th – 17th. There will be chocolate classes, demos, and plenty of sampling at the main event — the Chocolate Crawl — on the evening of Friday, February 6th which takes place at all the Central Market store. But the part we like best is meeting the chocolatiers and chocolate makers that Central Market brings in town to sample their chocolates. This year brings the men behind Dick Taylor Chocolate to the Southlake store on Saturday February 7th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and to the Lovers Lane store on Sunday February 8th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.   Continue reading

HANK Dessert Bars Now Available At DFW Central Markets

I always like to see the local people do well, and I have followed the journey of the owner and head baking gal over at HANK Dessert Bars, made right here in Dallas, for some time. Stacie Shaw makes the all natural dessert bars that are gluten free and a mere 170 calories that are huge in flavor that truly satisfies your snacking needs. The bars have been available locally at places such as Jimmy’s Food Store and the Green Grocer, but also available for home delivery through Artizone. Today Shaw sends word that the bars have been picked up by Central Market, and they will begin carrying the products in all five Dallas and Fort Worth stores on January 18th.    Continue reading

More Hatch Celebration This Sunday At Southlake Central Market

You know it is Hatch Chile Season when you smell fresh roasted peppers everywhere, and it drives you to the nearest grocery to nab a few pounds. Some to cook with now, more to freeze for those barren chile months in the dead of winter. These special peppers grown in New Mexico are Anaheim’s all grown up. They benefit from the soil and sun only spied upon in the New Mexican heat, and this season they have a bounty.

One event you may not want to miss in Southlake uses the chile as its main ingredient. Central Market has called upon several local chefs to compete Iron Chef-style in a battle to out-spice the competition.     Continue reading
