More Hatch Celebration This Sunday At Southlake Central Market

You know it is Hatch Chile Season when you smell fresh roasted peppers everywhere, and it drives you to the nearest grocery to nab a few pounds. Some to cook with now, more to freeze for those barren chile months in the dead of winter. These special peppers grown in New Mexico are Anaheim’s all grown up. They benefit from the soil and sun only spied upon in the New Mexican heat, and this season they have a bounty.

One event you may not want to miss in Southlake uses the chile as its main ingredient. Central Market has called upon several local chefs to compete Iron Chef-style in a battle to out-spice the competition.     Continue reading →

Martin House Brewery Teams Up With LUCK For Cooking Demo and Dinner

Fort Worth’s Central Market Cooking School will host a special demonstration and dinner prepared by, the chef/owners of L.U.C.K. (Local Urban Craft Kitchen), a craft beer inspired kitchen & bar, that is soon to open in Dallas’ Trinity Groves. The chefs from L.U.C.K. will share with you a selection of items to be included on the their craft beer inspired menu while the brew masters from Fort Worth brewery Martin House will be on hand to expertly pair their beers with the evening’s menu.

You’ve Gotta Try Some WOATS

Justin Anderson was but a lad of 16 when he decided to take over his mother’s kitchen and create a soft granola snack. Justin was wearing braces on his teeth at the time and the young scout had a flair for making things happen even at an early age. After borrowing $500 from his grandmother his brand of trail mix was born.

Flash forward to more modern times and Justin is still rather young (a mere 26), but recently started selling a new soft oats mix called WOATS in Central Market who has an exclusive on the product for now. Soon the WOATS will enjoy a wide distribution.   Continue reading →

Houston’s Trentino Creates Gelato With Local Flavor

Marcelo Kreindel, owner of Trentino Gelato, thinks about chocolate in a different way than most. Trentino is the Houston based gelato concern that is shaking the foundations of our beliefs in not only gelato but chocolate as well. Kreindal has collaborated with a bean-to-bar chocolate company called Tejas Chocolate which is located in Spring, Texas to bring the more exotic chocolate using single sourced beans from Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Madagascar and Mexico. Pat Robertson Cooking Class At Central Market

The modern Asian cuisine of Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck and Chef Patton Robertson has received many accolades, including four stars from the Dallas Morning News. Chef Robertson, a native of Texas, began his culinary career at Spago restaurant in Las Vegas and has been part of Five Sixty since its opening.

Many decades before Central Market Lovers Lane could celebrate a decade at its current location, the popular corner was occupied by LouAnn’s nightclub, a swinging dance and supper club run by Lou and Ann Bovis, who hosted performers such as Lawrence Welk and Jimmy Reed.
