Keller’s Drive-In Still Hopping After 69 Years

Keller’s Drive-In has been a Dallas staple since 1950 when Jack Keller opened his first drive-in in Dallas. Having worked at the original drive-in which was located on Chalk Hill off the DFW Turnpike, the Pig Stand, Keller ventured out to open his own restaurant replete with snazzy carhops, cold beer, and tasty burgers.  Continue reading

Merry, Merry Cheeseburger Day to Pat Snuffer

We do not celebrate all the supposed national food holidays, especially since burgers has at least three including todays National Cheeseburger celebration. Actually this is one celebration that we should all stand behind.

Coincidentally, we had a few delicious cheeseburgers last night at Pat and Mike’s in North Dallas.  This is Pat and Mike who happen to have the last name Snuffer. Pat Snuffer opened his namesake restaurant when he was thirty years old and since has gone on to be one of the most celebrated restaurateurs in Dallas. Eat Me: The Cheeseburger at Remedy

The hunt for the best burger is never ending, and most usually pleasurable. The latest burger sampling was this past weekend at Remedy, that wonderful new restaurant on lower  Greenville Avenue, next to its sister restaurant, HG Sply.  Besides having a fantastic cocktail program, Remedy makes one of the best renditions of fried chicken in this city. Seriously, Confit Amish Fried Chicken? Yes, it is spectacular. Yesterday was our first chance to taste the burger, which I have been hearing so much about. Here’s The Skinny On A Couple Of Fat Burgers For Two Bucks Tomorrow

Tomorrow, September 18 is National Cheeseburger Day. I thought we just celebrated that a few months back with another story, but apparently that was National Hamburger Day. Big difference! Any reason for us to celebrate with a meaty sandwich filled with choice ingredients makes us happy.

We have a few suggestions how to celebrate the day on the cheap, and it will also give you a reason to check out some restaurants you may not have otherwise visited. Mutts Cantina  is located at 2889 Cityplace West Blvd. in Uptown, and they are offering you a $2 cheeseburger. This is all day and dine-in only. It will be a nice day, so perhaps this for lunch.  Continue reading
