On May 16, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden kicks off Summer at the Arboretum with the return of “Flower Houses: Fairy Tales with a Texas Twist.” Continuing the year-long “Deep in the Hearts of Texans” theme, the flower village features four topiary houses up to 15-feet-tall currently enveloped in red, white and blue flowers before transitioning into summer foliage. Each house highlights a Texas-inspired fairy tale vignette-a picante gingerbread man dances around a babbling brook; Goldilocks’ irascible cousin finds herself behind the Pine Curtain, and stubborn livestock starts a chain of events causing a kerfuffle across the prairie. Dallas Arboretum Announces 2015 Concert Series
The premier concert series “Cool Thursdays” at the Dallas Arboretum is back in action. As Dallas’ only concert series overlooking the picturesque White Rock Lake on the award-winning Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn, tickets have been selling fast and selling out. This year the series will kick off on April 9 with a new band, Rocket Man: The Elton John Tribute Experience.
Rocket Man gives an insanely energetic performance time after time, throwing around jams such as “Saturday Night’s Alright” and “Pinball Wizard” before sending audiences exploding into space with extended 70’s instrumental versions of “Rocket Man,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and “Levon.” Rocket Man musicians actually portray Elton John’s intense 70’s & 80’s concerts down to the finest detail. New Events For Savor Dallas Announced
Savor Dallas is one of the premier food and wine events in Texas, and enjoyed each year by literally thousands of enthusiasts. The event seems to be growing at a quicker clip each year with more interesting and exciting events to get people out of the house and exposed to our wonderful restaurants, and of course the wine.
Jim White is Dallas gem and has planned for even more this year with events spreading out over an entire week. Look for a huge event at 3015 in Trinity Grove, and we just learned of another new event at the Dallas Arboretum that will be a lot of fun. The Arboretum explodes in the Spring and on Sunday, March 17, 2013 you will be able to stroll the grounds and enjoy premium wines, beers and spirits. Chihuly And Chinese Lantern Extended
There are a few exhibits in Dallas that captured the imagination of anyone who visited in 2012. For those that missed them, you have a renewed chance. The Dale Chihuly exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum is extended until December 31, 2012. And the Chinese Lantern Festival at Fair Park has been extended until January 2013.
