On March 19, Kenny Bowers sadly closed FIVE of his six restaurants, consolidating as much of his team as he could keep into Plano’s Kenny’s East Coast Pizza.

Bowers is thrilled to have a plan to reopen ALL SIX of his restaurants for to go and delivery service starting TODAY. I am so excited to share this nugget of good news which hopefully reflects our next steps in getting through this pandemic. Continue reading

A Fancy Waygu Burger Makes It Into Kenny’s UnFancy Burger Joint

kenburgby Steven Doyle

Kenny Bower’s Frisco burger joint, aptly named Kenny’s Burger Joint, is not about the fancy. You won’t find any foie gras (snap!) but you will find some very good burgers, ribs and one bad ass Philly Cheesteak called the Steak Bomb.

With an homage to the Chris Rock scene in I’m Ginna Git You Sucka, where Rock orders a single rib, Bowers sells one rib for a dollar on Sunday nights. This would make Rock proud, but I seriously doubt that Bowers will sell a handful of soda for a dime.    Continue reading

Kenny’s Smoke House To Open In December At Shops Of Legacy

by Steven Doyle

We like us some Kenny Bowers. This is the mastermind behind many restaurants located in Addison and in Frisco. His Kenny’s Burger joint is the real deal, and we love the meatball at his Italian hook-up.

Back in May, Chef Kenny went on a road trip and brought us back snapshots from Memphis. Little did we know at the time that it was actually a mission to sniff out great barbecue. Now the man is ready to debut his latest restaurant, Kenny’s Smoke House which will be located in Plano, Texas.

The acclaimed chef and his business partners, Mike Hutchinson and Bob Stegall, will open Kenny’s Smoke House at The Shops of Legacy this winter.  The 2,700 square foot restaurant will showcase a variety of smoked meats as well as favorites that fans of the popular chef have come to expect.            Continue reading

Kenny Bowers Checks Out The Memphis World Championship BBQ Cook-Off

by Kenny Bowers

When we caught wind that Kenny Bowers was traveling to the  BBQ Cook-Off in Memphis we clamored to have him send us the details.  Kenny, who is the chef-owner of Kenny’s Woodfire Grill, Kenny’s Italian and Kenny’s Burger Joint did one step better and penned a fun look at his week of competition and BBQ.

As a kid growing up in Boston, when someone said BBQ we thought hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill; Texas was my BBQ culture shock.

The southern culture thrives off BBQ and Memphis is a big driving force in how to do it right.  Every year, a month long festival takes over Memphis, TN.  The appropriately named, Memphis in May consists of four main events:

  • The Beale Street Music Festival
  • International Week
  • Sunset Symphony
  • Most importantly, the BBQ Cooking Contest           Continue reading
