Kenny’s Smoke House To Open In December At Shops Of Legacy

We like us some Kenny Bowers. This is the mastermind behind many restaurants located in Addison and in Frisco. His Kenny’s Burger joint is the real deal, and we love the meatball at his Italian hook-up.

Back in May, Chef Kenny went on a road trip and brought us back snapshots from Memphis. Little did we know at the time that it was actually a mission to sniff out great barbecue. Now the man is ready to debut his latest restaurant, Kenny’s Smoke House which will be located in Plano, Texas.

The acclaimed chef and his business partners, Mike Hutchinson and Bob Stegall, will open Kenny’s Smoke House at The Shops of Legacy this winter.  The 2,700 square foot restaurant will showcase a variety of smoked meats as well as favorites that fans of the popular chef have come to expect.            Continue reading →

Kenny Bowers Checks Out The Memphis World Championship BBQ Cook-Off

When we caught wind that Kenny Bowers was traveling to the  BBQ Cook-Off in Memphis we clamored to have him send us the details.  Kenny, who is the chef-owner of Kenny’s Woodfire Grill, Kenny’s Italian and Kenny’s Burger Joint did one step better and penned a fun look at his week of competition and BBQ.

As a kid growing up in Boston, when someone said BBQ we thought hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill; Texas was my BBQ culture shock.  

The southern culture thrives off BBQ and Memphis is a big driving force in how to do it right.  Every year, a month long festival takes over Memphis, TN.  The appropriately named, Memphis in May consists of four main events:

  • The Beale Street Music Festival
  • International Week
  • Sunset Symphony

Build A Better Burger And Kenny Will Pay You

Let me start by saying I really like Kenny Bowers. First, the guy can cook. That’s a fairly important point when you are a chef. Second, the guy is outrageous. Great combination. Kenny doesn’t take himself too seriously and has a lot of fun with his burger joint up in Frisco.

It’s pretty nifty that you can buy a single rib for one dollar, which comes from a Chris Rock line in the film I’m Gonna Git You Sucka. This is also the spot where you can buy a 7 pounder that is a burger loaded with 7,000 calories, and can actually feed 20 people — or one really hungry hombre. Last week Kenny announced a dinosaur-sized hot dog.     Continue reading →

Kenny Bowers Wants You To Eat His 24 Inch Weiner: UPDATED

Just when you thought it safe to put away your defibrillator, Kenny Bowers, that irreverent chef who runs Kenny’s Woodfire Grill and Kenny’s Burger Joint has come out with a massive piece of meat on a bun. No, we are not talking about the El Jefe Grande that weighs in at seven pounds stuffed with seven thousand calories.  This is a gargantuan hot dog to rival Nolan Ryan’s two foot long dog at the Ballpark at Arlington.   Continue reading →
