Korea House Is Where Dallas Koreatown Started

If you asked me where Dallas Koreatown actually begins, I would point to a corner. Royal Lane and Harry Hines, southwest side. Korea House has been on that corner since 1987, and the restaurant itself goes back even further than that. Sung Kim opened the first one in Richardson in 1979. Most of her ingredients had to come in from New York back then. Korean food in Dallas was barely a thing. A handful of Korean wholesalers and small banks started moving into the cheap strip centers around Royal and Harry Hines a few years later, and Kim moved her restaurant right into the middle of them. Everything else you see out there now, all the grocers and markets and newer restaurants, grew up around her.

Nuri Grill, the new Korean steakhouse located in Dallas’ Koreatown is now open for lunch Monday – Sunday, in addition to their current dinner service. The restaurant offers an elevated twist on familiar Korean dishes in a comfortable and high-energy atmosphere. Guests will enjoy a lunch menu with new items ranging from stews to bibimbap to salads.

Nuri Grill, an upscale Asian inspired steakhouse to open Tuesday, November 9 in Dallas’ Koreatown

Nuri Grill – located at 2254 Royal Lane, Suite 100, Dallas, Texas 75229 in Koreatown in the DFW metroplex is set to open on Tuesday, November 9. The restaurant’s food and cocktail program offer an elevated twist on familiar Asian/American dishes.  In addition, guests will feel transported upon entering the thoughtfully designed restaurant featuring interactive grills at each table.

The concept was created by Wan Kim, originally from Korea and the CEO of Smoothie King. His lifelong passion for food and business led him to create Nuri Grill. Kim tasked Michelin Guide acknowledged Korean chef, Minji Kim and her lead chef and husband, Ben Lee. Together the duo has developed a menu for Dallasites to experience finer Asian-inspired cuisine in a comfortable environment. The pair moved from Korea to Dallas last year, specifically to work on this new venture for Kim.
