Little D Farmers Market in Trinity Groves

Spring is in full swing and that means it is time for all the beautiful farmer’s markets to begin showing their wares. There are many to choose from across our city’s landscape, and the newest addition brings us to Trinity Groves. What better reason to make the Margaret Hunt-Hill Bridge crossing than to check out all the many restaurants, and on the first, second, and third Sundays between 10am and 3pm, dozens of pop up tents with a bounty of fresh produce and local goods produced by your neighbors.

We checked out the market this past Sunday to find many interesting vendors set up in front of the main building in Trinity Groves, just past the line of restaurant patios. Here you can sample great baked goods from Village Baking Company, or grab a shot of java from Noble Coyote Roasters.   Continue reading

Locally Speaking: Martin’s Biscotti

I have been running into a talented gentleman for some time now and have enjoyed his product, Martin’s Biscotti. Biscotti di Prato are those delightful twice baked cookies that make coffee time seem like a thrill ride on a boardwalk. Biscotti are oblong-shaped almond cookies, made dry and crunchy through cutting the loaf of dough while still hot and fresh from baking in the oven. My man Martin Vandiver, along with his beautiful bride Ann Cichon, and daughter Elizabeth run EMA Baking Company who makes these five flavors of biscotti does an incredible job.  Continue reading
