Q&A: Jeffrey Pilcher, Taco Whisperer

Jeffrey M. Pilcher, professor of history at the University of Minnesota, has traveled around the world eating tacos. For the past 20 years, he has investigated the history, politics and evolution of Mexican food, including how Mexican silver miners likely invented the taco, how Mexican Americans in the Southwest reinvented it, and how businessman Glen Bell mass-marketed it to Anglo palates via the crunchy Taco Bell shell. Pilcher is author and editor, respectively, of the forthcoming Planet Taco: A Global History of Mexican Food (Oxford University Press) and The Oxford Handbook of Food History. His previous books include The Sausage Rebellion: Public Health, Private Enterprise, and Meat in Mexico City, 1890-1917 and Que vivan los tamales! Celebrate National Taco Day At E Bar

E Bar is a bit hidden, and it is a bit delicious. Actually it is plenty delicious. Platefuls of enchiladas, rellenos, tacos of all varieties can be found and used as a means of cutting the powerful margaritas that are requisite.

Urban Taco Gives Back On National Taco Day

2017 has shown its share of disasters and Urban Taco in Uptown wishes to help out in a way they only could imagine: with tacos. Urban Taco will be selling their tacos for $4 on October 4th to celebrate National Taco Day. In conjunction with this promotion (for each taco sold) $2 of the proceeds will be donated to Fundacion Carlos Slim in Mexico, to assist in earthquake disaster relief.

Co-owner Markus Pineyro  will be visiting a branch of the Fundacion
in Mexico, and will also be matching 5 pesos for every peso donated.

Urban Taco – 3411 McKinney Avenue location ALL DAY/NIGHT during regular business hours on Oct 4th.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop Celebrates National Taco Day with Buck Tacos

It’s that time of year again — Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is celebrating National Taco Day with $1 tacos today, October 4, 2016.

National Taco Day Sends Us To Blue Mesa

While 95% of the blogosphere is out celebrating National Taco Day at fast food joints across DFW we are slipping out early today to grab a fistful of free tacos in the bar at Blue Mesa. These tacos are pretty spectacular and come in several styles such as their picadillo (potato and beef), chicken, and beef.
