First Look: TJ’s Seafood Market New Location at Preston-Royal

One of our favorite seafood restaurants and markets started in their tiny digs at Preston and Forest back in 1989, and founded by Tom Haden and Jim Kearnen (thus the T and the J).  The pair retired ten years later making way for the new owners, Pete & Caren Alexis who appreciated the shop since its inception. The family promised to maintain its values and excellence in quality and service. In 2009, Jon Alexis took over as the “third generation” owner of TJ’s Seafood Market.   Continue reading

TJ’s Seafood Market Moving Forest Location To Preston Royal

TJ’s Seafood Market is one of our favorite spots in Dallas to find fresh seafood. Th location at Preston and Forest has been servicing Dallas for 25 years, and has been a fantastic spot for unusual species of seafood with exemplary quality. We also enjoy the location on Oak Lawn that allows us to select our seafood fresh from the cold case and dine on location. Today we learned that TJ’s will be moving their flagship store at Preston-Forest to a new location at Preston and Royal in the North East shopping center, the former Purple Cow restaurant.   Continue reading

Taco Cina Has Kick Ass Queso

If you tool around one of the city’s better food intersections, Preston and Royal, you might have spotted  hidden amongst the brush and in the same parking lot as Sushi Star. I could have sworn some months ago the sign read Taco Taco, and upon a bit of inquiry I was correct.  Owner Eddie Hilazi had to alter the name just a bit after some flack with a restaurant using the same name in San Antonio. 

Taco Cina is a play on Cocina, which means kitchen in Spanish. Say the name really fast and you will get this.   Continue reading
