Dine Like a VIP And Win Two Tickets To Savor’s Grand Tasting

savorby Steven Doyle

We have been building up to this for weeks now, and Savor Dallas is finally here. Click away to see the various events that are available for you to enjoy, culminating to the wonderful International Tasting we enjoy each year with a bevy of chef tastings and plenty of incredible wines to sample. This is like the Super Bowl of foodie events in the North Texas area, and you will want to savor every bit of the events on schedule.

In addition to all the fun events, organizers, who include Jim White and Vicki Briley-White, they play host to many VIP’s that come in literally from around the world. These VIP’s might include chefs, winemakers and national media. What do the organizers do with these people when they aren’t savoring? They show them around Dallas. Mostly they go to restaurants. If you would like to be a VIP, we somehow came upon the list of where they are going this week. Check these hot spots out:   Continue reading

Savor Dallas Announces 2014 Events

wineby Steven Doyle

The tradition of Savor Dallas, the most delicious food and wine festival in Texas, continues with a 10th Anniversary celebratory edition, March 20-22.  Over three days of wining and dining, this “celebration of wine, food, spirits and the arts,” spotlights dozens of the area’s top chefs and more than 400 premium wines, spirits and beers throughout the weekend.  New this year, Savor Dallas adds a spotlight on Texas wines and spirits.   Ticket prices for the individual events range from $20 to $150.  Weekend passes for $365 also are available at an overall cost saving.

“When we started this all those years ago our mission was pretty straightforward.  We wanted to support the city we love, and give upscale food and wine lovers the kind of premium experience they deserve,” says Jim White, Savor Dallas co-founder along with his wife Vicki Briley-White, “We had no idea the celebration would grow into an event encompassing downtown Dallas that would host some 5,000 guests over a three-day celebration. What a credit to citizens and visitors alike.”    Continue reading

Savor Dallas 2014 Kicks Off With ‘PAIRINGS’ At Trinity Groves

trinityby Andrew Chalk

Trinity Groves, nestling at the western foot of Santiago Calatrava’s architectural masterpiece bridge, was packed on Thursday night as Savor Dallas kicked off its 2014 festival (March 20th-23rd, 2014) with a first-class event pairing the restaurants of what might be described as the opening fission of Trinity Groves, wines from the whole planet including Texas wineries Fall Creek Vintners and Becker Vineyards proudly leading with their wines from Texas-grown grapes and saying it loud and clear on the front label. Beer aficionados could choose between a beer made within a drunkard’s stagger of the event location (Four Corners Brewing Company – which is on the same street) or Belgium’s Stella Artois, where impossibly thin, impossibly blond, gals gave out commemorative glasses for attendees to take home. I previously reported how rapidly Four Corners Brewing Company is establishing itself, despite their newness on the Dallas beer scene (in fact, they have even taken design of their web site away from the four-year old that had it previously – next event is this Saturday 6pm — beer with local food — and it looks i-c-e c-o-o-l). Judging by the lines, they were a hit at the show.

On to the restaurants, and food vendors inhabiting Da Grove.    Continue reading

2013 Savor Dallas Wrap Up

whiteby Steven Doyle

Another session of Savor Dallas has been tucked under our belts, and formidable host Jim White is already at work planning the 2014 version. This year White seemed more at ease with his progeny, having planned what can only be described as a perfect series of events that lasted nearly an entire week.

The smattering of events scattered a wider path this year, having touched on new areas of Dallas including the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, up-and-comer Trinity Groves, and even the Arboretum. Each spot White visited he left a pot of gold as his legacy for this St Patrick’s Day weekend.   Continue reading
