Holidays Means The Capital Grille (Contest!)

cap1by Steven Doyle

It doesn’t seem like Christmas without a visit to The Capital Grille. They are decked out for the holidays with their own brand of extra fantastic service, over-the-top plates of beef served just about any way you could imagine, and the requisite seafood displayed in a way that will make you gasp with delight and fulfilled expectations.

Our recent visit was as expected. In the bar were several parties unwrapping and laughing, in the atrium families waiting for tables and throughout the dining room  happy guests were in full-on celebration mode. It is Christmas, indeed. Continue reading

Review: Roux Bistro

DSC00858by Steven Doyle

You have most likely seen the new restaurant at 4218 Lemmon Ave in Dallas, and caved to caution with thoughts of the unfortunate restaurants that preceded Roux Bistro. And there were some unfortunate concepts that occupied that space such as Tallywackers. Or Lolitas. Or how about Cafe Cancun. Some spaces just have a difficult time with their tenants until something truly wonderful comes along, and that is Roux.

Owned by veteran restaurateur and delightful Greek Theodore Koutsogeorgas Roux has a unique niche in the Dallas market. Call him Theo, his surname might be a bit of trouble for some. And you will see him roam the floor, attending each guest with aplomb. He has been doing this since his days at Goldfinger. I recall Theo from his management work at Beau Nash, and the gentleman has owned his fair share of delightful restaurants, and still owns the Greek spot at Collin Creek.   Continue reading

The Poke Bowl phenomenon in Dallas is rising to a fever pitch as we witness these restaurants popping up across the foodie landscape in Dallas. The latest to arrive at our doorsteps comes from a Tony Lin, a sushi master who practices his trade in Rockwall at a restaurant called Edo Japan.

It was while visiting California that Lin discovered his love for the bowl and started planning Go Fish Poke several years ago.   Continue reading
