Flying Fish is a Catch

flying_fish_addison.0.jpgby Steven Doyle

The Flying Fish looks and feels like it has been in business since the post war era but in fact Shannon Wynne designed and opened his first casual seafood restaurant in Little Rock, Arkansas in 2002. The Flying Fish serves catfish, shrimp, oysters, crawfish and other seafood. Wynne expanded the restaurant throughout North Texas with locations in Addison, Dallas, Garland, Fort Worth, and Arlington. There is also a location in Memphis, Tennessee. All equally as tacky as the very first location in the land of Clinton’s, but so much more savory. Continue reading

Eat Me: TJ’s Seafood Market Cocktail Shrimp

tj1by Steven Doyle

There are these triggers that set off imagery of a holiday season past. These can vary from delicious scents such as your favorite Christmas pie, the wafting trail of a roasting pheasant or the blast of fragrance from the tiny pine cone found on your tree as you begin dressing it for the season.  There are musical triggers as well. Hearing the first Christmas tune when it becomes seasonal proper that lifts you with the spirit of the season can be powerful, as are the visualizations such as seeing the jolly man engaging a wide-eyed child filled with hope, and for us… a large platter of cocktail shrimp from TJ’s Seafood Market. There is also nothing more divine than a New Year’s platter or to from our favorite fishmonger. Continue reading

Bistro 31 Offers A Beautiful Menu With Impeccable Service

bis2by Steven Doyle

Bistro 31 is what I like to call a beautiful dining decision. All the elements are at hand, a gorgeous atmosphere coupled with a seriously well executed menu and service above reproach.

It is only appropriate that a restaurant located in Dallas’ finest plaza which features exclusive shopping experiences such as Fendi, Dior and Hermes also hosts an impeccable restaurant such as Bitro 31. Consider the low-lustre Venetian plaster walls, custom Murano chandeliers, walls featuring contemporary art by local artists and a stand-up Art Deco coffee bar. Continue reading
