Doggies! Texas Italian Greyhound Rescue Partners with The Second Floor Bistro-Bar To Raise Funds To Place Greyhounds With Loving Homes

I did not know that Scott and Gina Gottlich had a swish private dining room equipped with full A/V equipment, sound system etc. right behind their 2nd Floor Bistro-Bar – the flagship restaurant at the Westin-Galleria. It is usually used for corporate and family events but it sure came in handy on Saturday night when they donated it to a good cause.

Texas Italian Greyhound Rescue (TIGR) held a social with silent auction for over a hundred guests. There were great hors d’oeuvres, included wine and beer, and cash cocktails for those who wanted something stronger. I was happy with Newton Claret to see me through and the stellar  hors d’oeuvres prepared by Second Floor chefs.   Continue reading

Second Floor Bistro To Host Cocktail Class

The cocktail has gone through much transition in Dallas over the past few years. The word craft cocktail almost became an evil term for anything over-the-top sweet, $20 and 20 minutes later. But in more recent times we have seen fantastic bartenders honing their craft in North Texas, and we actually have an amazing reputation for some of the very best in this region of the country. Our bartenders compete nationally in competitions, and win. They are asked to host symposiums throughout the country, and revered as tops in their field. Joel Harloff Resigns From Second Floor

Chef Joel Harloff has resigned from the Second Floor at the Westin Galleria leaving a position available. Owner Scott Gottlich sends word, “Chef Joel A. Harloff will be leaving The Second Floor Bistro – Bar this month, and I wish him well with his future endeavors. I am excited about the opportunity to announce a new executive chef soon.”
