Starting Mother’s Day, John Tesar at Spoon will be kicking off a weekly lobster bake featuring and 1.5 pound lobster served with steamer clams with broth and drawn butter, heirloom creamer potatoes, house made kielbasa and tomato salad. Desserts from Executive Pastry Chef David Collier will change weekly and seasonally.
Lobster Sunday will continue each week at a cost o $55 per person plus tax and gratuity. Wine is not including, but pairings will be available from Spoon’s sommelier. Continue reading

If you missed craveRADIO this past Sunday, you missed a whole lot of talking. We had chef darling Tiffany Derry in the studio, and she was talking up her new television program that will soon be premiering on Spike TV, Hunger Investors. This new program will pit two restaurant gems in the rough and have them compete for a barrel full of cash to make improvements to their menu, service and ultimately their bottom line.
Tiffany was kind enough to chat through our many Top Chef questions, and was particularly interesting to hear about her many other under-takings as a speaker as she travels across the country inspiring students that they are able to make their mark as a chef, or any other career that they might be interested in. Picture this if you will. Twenty teams of chefs, each paired with a local fire fighter in a battle to ferret out the very best grill master. These chefs are talented and the firefighters can blaze in a kitchen as well. The two-man (and women) teams will compete in the day-long competition for a chance to win $1,000, and will undergo a trial by fire in this elimination match. All the proceeds for the event raises cash and awareness for the Parkland Burn Unit in Dallas.
This year’s Chefs on Fire has a few new items on the agenda including a celebrity chef round where they are paired with fire chiefs. The chefs on chiefs include Randall Copeland from Restaurant Ava, Samir Dhurandhar from Nick & Sam’s, Graham Dodd from Central 214 and John Tesar from the upcoming Spoon restaurant. Continue reading
