After the new owners closed the Windmill, that iconic classic cocktail lounge formerly run by Greek Charlie Pap (who now owns Industry Alley), the doors opened last evening for a proper unveiling. With new wood floors, a fresh coat of paint inside and out, refurbished furniture, sparkling new bathrooms, a working AC unit, the addition of a pool table and a new patio, the doors opened early to an excited and thirsty crowd.

We had a spirited conversation about wine, women and song, as well as BBQ and that one time when Fearing almost murdered the most beloved woman on earth, Julia Child. Fearing also chats with us about his new Fall menu which is about to debut any day now. We also chatted about certain menu items which can never, ever go away. Think lobster tacos, his legendary tortilla soup and that amazing banana pudding that just makes you feel at home.    Continue reading

This week on craveRADIO we hosted some pretty special guests. First we had on Jon Bonnell who owns a trio of restaurants in Fort Worth. He has Bonnell’s Fine Texas Cuisine which has been open for 12 years now, serving up plenty of Texas game. Bonnell was  sourcing local products way before it was the hip thing to do, and has a vast network of farmers and ranchers he relies on each day.

In addition to his eponymous restaurant, Bonnell also runs his latest entry in Fort Worth, Waters. Waters is all about fresh seafood and has been a runaway success. At Waters you will find a rotating list of a dozen varieties of oysters, freshly flown in coastal seafood and a few interesting non-seafood items like a rabbit loin and a pork porterhouse.    Continue reading
