Presented by the Prestonwood Polo & Country Club’s Ladies Polo Auxiliary and the Prestonwood Polo Foundation, the annual Polo on the Lawn event features a Kentucky-Derby-themed afternoon of polo with fast-paced action, thoroughbred beauties, champagne divot stomping, and sideline socializing. Set each year on Derby Day (with live broadcast viewing in the pavilion), Polo on the Lawn aims to introduce the Sport of Kings to a broader audience while raising funds and awareness for important community causes, raising approximately $500,000 to date. Dallas Theater Center brings the world’s greatest detective to the stage in Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure, written by Steven Dietz and directed by DTC Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty. Audiences will be thrilled by Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure, which is based on the original 1899 play by William Gillette and Arthur Conan Doyle and opens in previews on April 25 with a Pay-What-You-Can performance on May 25 at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre. We talked about the Food For Thought event last month, but we wanted to give you an update. We are always getting requests for event information, and the summertime is a slow period for food events. As we draw closer to Fall and Winter that will all change and we will be announcing all sorts of fun events.
The fourth annual Food for Thought event will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, at the Frontiers of Flight Museum. Showcasing Dallas/Fort Worth’s finest chefs and cuisine, Food for Thought benefits Big Thought, one of Dallas’ leading nonprofits dedicated to improving public education through creative learning (and Big Thought happens to be celebrating its 25th anniversary this year). At the event, former DISD School Board Trustee Edwin Flores will be honored with the coveted Gavel of Excellence Award.
