Kibble & Cocktails: Eating And Drinking To Help Rescue Dogs

by Steven Lindsey

Dallas is a city that loves to give back. And with that generosity of spirit comes an abundance of fundraising events, from elaborate black-tie galas to simple tastings in the back rooms of art galleries.

Next Tuesday, there’s a fantastic fundraiser that falls somewhere in between: Kibble & Cocktails. The brainchild of Lisa Jones at Barking Hound Village, a luxury day care and overnight hotel for the canine set, Kibble & Cocktails is a food-and-cocktail event to raise awareness and funds for DFW Rescue Me, a true no-kill, last-chance rescue organization. To date, they have helped find permanent homes for 487 loveable pooches.

Held at the lovely Plaza at Turtle Creek Conservatory (just behind the Mansion on Turtle Creek), there will be food tastings from CraveDFW favorites like Nick and Sam’s, Steel, Lombardi, Victor Tangos and Jorge’s Tex-Mex. Additional food is provided by FreshPoint, Dread Head Chef, Oh Brownie, and Texas Toffee Queen.

At each of the five main food stations, William Grant & Sons will pair a refreshing cocktail from three of the most popular brands in their portfolio: Hendrick’s Gin, Milagro Tequila, and Stoli Vodka. For those who prefer something a little less stiff, Jackson Family Wines and local Franconia Brewery will serve up wine and beer, too.

Live music from the Russ Hewitt Band provides the soundtrack for plenty of sipping, savoring and shopping. A silent auction will be set up in the basement in raffle format (rather than highest bid wins) so that each person has an equal shot at taking home a great prize, including donations from Southwest Airlines tickets, Kendra Scott Jewelry, Forty Five Ten, Homewood Suites, Thank Dog Photography and many more.

Tickets are $100 and include all food, beverages, entertainment and valet parking. Raffle tickets are extra and may be purchased throughout the evening.

So join us to help give many great dogs a new chance at happiness. A few will even be on site ready for adoption if you’re looking for a great companion. Or a designated driver.
