On Saturday, May 18 from 4pm to 10pm, the Magnolia Strip in Fort Worth will once again transform into a walk of art. This time around 90 businesses are participating in ArtsGoggle. You will see people on the streets and walking in and out of places such as jewelry shops, non-profit centers, SiNaCa (coolest glass blowing show and shop) and hair salons. But why? Because the art is inside… and so are the snacks!
Some will hand you information on the business itself, others will ask if you want a roadie out of the keg. Just go with the element of surprise. Cruise in and out of each place. Carry a cold beverage and soak up visual art as well as live music, pleasing all your senses at once.
My first ArtsGoggle experience was in April 2009. Back then it was a few businesses and our group of 12 overwhelmed places we visited. Since then the businesses have grown, and are more accommodating. They had no idea the attraction to soon follow over the years. This has been a blessing for this neighborhood and Fort Worth. Magnolia Avenue has had a surge in property value, business ventures and it helps they have added so many wonderful local dining options and a boutique grocery store. Oh and do not forget the food trucks!
Yes ArtsGoggle is free. So is parking. In the past 2 years that I am aware, Molly the Trolley has hopped on board taking people from the main strip to parking lots, also free. YIPEE! Other options are the newly installed bikes for rent or hop on a pedi-cab. This is a family-friendly event and I have even seen plenty of the furry kind. If you miss the spring celebration, the fall event is October 12.
