VH Casual Dining and Bar Opens in Former Outpost American Space

Oak Cliff continues to expand its restaurant presence with yet another new and interesting choice, VH Casual Dining and Bar, slated to open Wednesday, September 24, 2014. The new spot boasts all the trappings that make up what a current Dallas restaurant should look like, including a large craft beer selection and locally sourced ingredients.

The owner is Victor Hugo, not the French poet but rather the former manager of Bistro 31 and Al Biernat’s. VH will be cheffed by Eric Brandt, also from Bistro 31.

Brandt promises such fare as Sweet Potato Johhny Cakes, made with blue crab, mango and sweet corn relish to the Duck and Goat Cheese Taquitos with avocado crema and cascabel salsa. There is also a $15 burger made with  smoked bacon, fontina, avocado and grain mustard, and served on a kaiser roll.

The menu looks well rounded with several pasta dishes, some big beef and seafood options, as well as a grilled tofu ratatouille.

The new restaurant is located at 1115 N. Beckley. If that address seems a bit familiar, think CampO, and more recently the Outpost American Tavern.
