The history of the margarita runs deep in Texas and no matter if it’s frozen or shaken, Dallas loves a great margarita. This is only one reason why you will want to check out the 5th annual Dallas Margarita Meltdown. The Dallas Margarita Meltdown will take place during Memorial Day weekend on Sunday, May 24th from 4pm-9pm in Dallas’ historic Bishop Arts District. The margarita competition will be 4-7pm with the winner being announced at 8pm.
The Margarita Meltdown is sponsored by Milagro Tequila. Bridging two worlds – the romantic, historic and honest world of traditional tequila, with the vibrant, international and sophisticated world of modern day Mexico City, this award-winning tequila from William Grant & Sons captures the true essence of the spirit’s origin, the blue agave, providing a bursting flavor of freshness with the smoothness of a world-class spirit.
Competing restaurants include: Asador, Urban Taco, RJ’s Mexican Cuisine, Komali, Mexican Sugar, Westin Blue Fire Grille, C’Viche, The Ranch, El Ranchito, La Calle Doce, Veracruz Café, Bar 303, Pier 247, Scotch and Sausage, Local Oak, The Mobile Bartender, High and Tight, Tillman’s, Vagabond, The People’s Last Stand, La Margarita, Pie 314, Parliament, Boulevardier and Mesa. They will be adding several more.
Some of the best bartenders in the city will compete for $1000 and the prestigious title of best margarita in Dallas. Various happy hour events leading up to the Margarita Meltdown will begin in May at participating establishments in Uptown and Bishop Arts District.
