Deep Ellum’s Independent Bar & Kitchen announced some fun changes as the fall season approaches.
The kitchen is now led by up-and-coming 23 year old, female Chef Gaby Hernandez. Gaby has been with IBK since their opening in April 2016. With a history focused mainly as a pastry chef, Gaby is now entering the savory world. The IBK menu will still feature her sweet pastries, cookies, and house made breads and rolls.
Gaby is joined by consultant and Deep Ellum rock and roll legend, Corey Howe of Dead Flowers. Corey also has a vast experience in the hospitality industry including local favorites Victor Tangos, Fireside Pies, Doublewide and he is currently wrapping up a revamping project at The Nines in Deep Ellum. Corey and Gaby have worked together to create some tasty new menu items.
IBK’s new menu is streamlined to ensure a timely guest experience while still holding true to the chef driven, unique cuisine it’s know for. Shared Plates, meant to be ordered and shared by the table, are highlights of the new menu.
A few new menu items:
Savory Green Pancakes: (Vegetarian):
Spinach. Soy Ginger Glaze. Garlic Aioli. Purple Cabbage Slaw
Steamed Seafood in a Citrus and Pickled Veggie Marinade
(Signature Dish of Middlesbrough, England. To the best of our knowledge that’s the next closest place from Deep Ellum to find a Parmo)
Fried Chicken Breast. Garlic Bechamel. Shredded Cheddar.
Curry Poutine (Vegetarian):
Thin Fries. Curried Bechamel. Pickled Red Onion. Garlic Mayo.
Tuesday is Half Price Local Pint Night, and Wednesday is Half Price Food Night starting August 23rd from 4 to 10pm.
The Independent Bar & Kitchen is located at 2712 Main Street, in the Heart of Deep Ellum.
