The Khao Noodle Shop concept has been a longtime dream and vision of Chef Donny Sirisavath, and it officially opens in late September 2018.  Khao Noodle Shop is a chef-driven Laotian restaurant nestled in East Dallas serving Chef Donny’s signature boat noodles and Laotian bites.  The cozy shop opens in late September at 4812 Bryan Street, Suite 101, Dallas, TX 75204.

The recipes and shop is inspired by his mom, his childhood memories of her home-cooking and his travels throughout Southeast Asia. A place to khao gun (come together) and to share home-cooked dishes with friends and family. At Khao Noodle Shop, you’ll feel like home.  The menu is crafted for sharing and tasting, like how it’s served in Southeast Asia. Order one or four smalls of different noodles and soups to share or eat alone and when you’re done, stack the bowls up. A limited menu of about 15 items will boasts items like boat noodles, khao soi (Laotian-style), khao poon (spicy vermicelli soup) and sakoo (tapioca dumplings).

Chef Donny is fully committed to being a conscious business by sourcing their ingredients from local community gardens in the neighborhood and farmer’s markets and reducing their environmental footprint inside the kitchen and out. He sought out a space specifically in East Dallas because his wife’s family and Southeast Asian refugees call it home, which pays homage to his mom’s roots.

His love of cooking came from learning from the best—his mom.

“From a very young age, I grew up helping my mom in the kitchen at home and at our family restaurant. I did everything, from bussing tables, chopping veggies to cooking. Everything was made from scratch and with love. I want to model that at Khao Noodle Shop,” said Chef Donny.

The word Khao has many meanings: ‘khao’ by itself means rice or food, ‘khao gun’ means come together, ‘kin khao’ means to come eat and ‘khao kin’ means food. “The name represents everything I hope the shop to become—a home for friends and family to come together to enjoy great Laotian food. #MaKinKhao (come eat),” he said.
