Elias Pope and the team behind HG SPLY CO have opened HERO by HG SPLY CO – a massive, open-air restaurant and bar in South Victory, Downtown Dallas.
Located just steps away from the South entrance of American Airlines Center, the impressive 25,000 square foot space was designed by William Baker of Jones Baker.
Currently open for dinner and drinks, HERO is the big sister concept of HG SPLY CO and brings the same menu focus of fresh, real food.
Pope says, “The concept is still in soft-opening, but in the coming weeks we will be fully open with complete menus, host an official grand opening and add lunch and weekend brunch hours. Until then we wanted to focus all of our energy on fueling the Stars and their fans.” The restaurant group caters all practices for the Dallas Stars as well as other professional teams and athletes. Pope continues, “Our partnership with The Stars is what originally sparked the idea for HERO. We are here to entertain and serve the fans as well as the players and look forward to our grand opening. For now, anyone can stop by for dinner, drinks and a round in the arcade!”
As for the food program, Culinary Director, Danyele McPherson says, “Working with the Stars, we have adapted the HG menu philosophy to work for the needs of professional athletes. This means continued focus on fresh and natural foods, but with the addition of more starch based carbohydrates through rice, pasta and potato based menu options. The food at HERO is fun, fresh and just like HG, offers plenty of choices for all diner’s lifestyles.”
Regarding the beverage program, Beverage Director, Matt Ragan explains, “I wanted to create a drink program that embraced our HG focus on using fresh pressed juices, natural, house made syrups and infusions while creating fun, celebratory cocktails. We have a menu that offers options for everyone.”
The main dining room seats 540 and offers 2 full-service bars with an open-air facade facing the south and east walls. At the opposite end of the building is the a massive indoor/outdoor bar area dubbed, The Meantime that seats 560 and houses an impressive 24-foot screen for game watching, concerts, private events and presentations. The 8500 square feet of open air is climate controlled and houses 3 full-service bars.
