On Sunday, November 10, all the chili and beer you desire will be available at Truck Yard, so that’s your cue to join in the lunchtime festivities. The occasion is Truck Yard’s Chili Cookoff, the annual event featuring delicious recipes from the Dallas Fire Department—recipes that you’re invited to sample and then judge.
For over four glorious hours, hungry attendees can stroll about, sampling chili from five fire department teams. The winner will be announced at 4:30 p.m., and if you want to stick around—trust us, you do—the food trucks will roll in then to keep the food coming and By the Horns Brewery will be pouring their beers all day for just $4.
Best of all, the chili and beer is happening for a good cause. $5 of every ticket sold will benefit the Local 58 Relief Fund, which provides financial assistance and volunteer services to firefighters in need who have suffered injuries and other catastrophic events on the job. So you can feel good about stuffing your face.
If there’s a better way to spend an afternoon, well, we haven’t heard of it. Plus, the Cowboys game starts at 7:20, and the big screen will be out for all to stick around and enjoy.
When: Sunday, November 10, 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Cost: $25. Tickets will be available at the door and include two free drinks and five chili samples. $5 of every ticket sold will go to charity.
Where: Truck Yard, 624 Sears St, Dallas, TX – 469-500-0139
