Apheleia Restaurant Group will soon be opening WITS, a modern steakhouse that, in addition to an expansive meat program, also features sushi and seafood. In describing the concept, owner Richard Ellman comments, “We want to keep it simple and focus on striving for flawless execution with high quality ingredients. The space, which showcases a variety of provocative and interesting art and design elements, is dynamic and high energy and the goal is to create a fun, social and uplifting dining and drinking experience.”
The kitchen will be headed up Aaron Redlitz. Redlitz, who comes to WITS with an impressive pedigree highlighted by culinary roles at Los Angeles-based Boa and Katana, has also worked alongside such notable chefs as Roland Passot La Folie in San Francisco as well as Eric Ripert. Redlitz expressed his excitement about WITS when stating, “I’m looking forward to leveraging my background to build a world class steakhouse that delivers on the classics but also offers plenty of surprises. My goal is for each and every guest to have a positive and memorable experience.”
In responding to questions as to how WITS will distinguish itself in a city already saturated with steakhouses, Ellman explained, “I think our guests will find that while the core of WITS is traditional steakhouse, we have also pushed ourselves to elevate beyond the ordinary. From the décor to our cocktails and dining menu, we are challenging ourselves to infuse creativity into all facets of the restaurant.”
WITS will open in early November and be located at 1628 Oak Lawn Ave Suite 110\ in former Oak space.
