The La Madeleine Country French Café in NorthPark Center, Dallas, has closed its doors after 35 years, with plans for another restaurant to take its place.
Since 1989, Dallas-based La Madeleine had been a fixture at NorthPark Center, serving its beloved pastries, salads, tomato basil soup, and sandwiches like the iconic croque monsieur.
A spokesperson for NorthPark Center confirmed that the location, situated across from Dillard’s, officially closed on December 31.
Replacing La Madeleine will be California-based Mendocino Farms, a restaurant known for its sandwiches and salads. While NorthPark officials have confirmed this, they have not yet announced an opening date for Mendocino Farms.
La Madeleine holds a special place in Dallas’s history, opening its first location in 1983 on Mockingbird Lane across from SMU—a restaurant that remains in operation today. The brand has since grown to include more than 80 locations across the country, according to its website.
NorthPark Center continues to host a variety of dining options, including long-standing Dallas favorites like The Mermaid Bar inside Neiman Marcus and Maggiano’s Little Italy. Other options include Bread Winners Café and Bakery, Corner Bakery, the eateries within Eataly Dallas, Joey (which replaced Seasons 52), Kona Grill, and more.
