Dallas has no shortage of the delicacy that is a burger. What makes a perfect burger is the flavor of the beef, and freshness of the bun, and toppings. A burger should develop a nice sear to trap all the juices inside. Pressing a burger releases all of its flavor and makes the burger dry and ends up crumbling. The toppings are just as important as the cooking process. Using fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions help bring a crisp texture and flavor depth that makes your burger scream fresh.
To add more depth a spread or sauce needs to compliment the other toppings without making the burger too messy or all you have is a excessive use of napkins. Innovative burger toppings just makes the flavor depth more interesting you just need to keep them in check because there is such a thing as “too much of a good thing.” Continue reading
Rodeo Goat Ice House, a casual beer and burger place from restaurateurs Shannon Wynne, Keith Schlabs and Larry Richardson, opens its second location tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Dallas Design District at 1926 Market Center Blvd.

You never really find the ultimate burger, but rather journey through pastured beef and freshly baked buns. Face it, we are all simply beef tourists.
This past weekend I stumbled upon another incredible burger that at first horrified me, but after a large chomp I was convinced I found something uniquely delicious. The Mac and Cheese Burger at 303 Grill in Oak Cliff should be knighted, or at least given an MBE. Continue reading
Narrowing down the very best burger in Dallas has always been a chore. The last time we tried to name the five best the list zoomed past five and slid into home base at twenty-five. Even at twenty-five we missed some burgers we adore. Then the list was tainted by time and the ravels of new burger joints opening across town.
Today marks another National Burger Day holiday (we officially recognize a pair of these holidays) which gives us yet another shot at plowing through a few burger filled weekends to bring a freshly appointed list. And this time we stopped at ten. No take backs until the next round of burger days appear on the calendar unless we make up another burger day like Hallmark makes up their special reasons for greeting cards (I am looking at you Quatro de Mayo and Decemberween).
